Privacy Policy
Sabi Daily ("the app") is developed by Koda Digital LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use Sabi Daily. The short version: we never see your journal. It lives on your device. If you turn on weekly backups, a password-protected copy goes to your own iCloud Drive or a cloud folder you choose, never to us. Two other optional things can leave your device: your approximate location, if you add the weather to an entry; and a crash report, if you turn crash reports on. All of these are off until you choose them.
What we collect
Nothing from your journal, ever. Sabi Daily has no account system, no login, no analytics and no advertising. We do not operate any server the app talks to, and we have no way to see, access, or receive anything you write or photograph in the app. The only thing that can reach us is a crash report, and only if you turn crash reports on (below).
Crash reports (optional, off by default)
In Settings › Privacy you can turn on Send crash reports. If you do, and the app crashes, it sends a report to Sentry, the service we use to receive them. A report contains the error and where in the app's code it happened, the app version, and your device model and operating system version. It never contains your entries, photos, tags, places, the screens you visited, or anything that identifies you, and the app strips those fields before a report is sent. Reports are kept for 90 days and then deleted, and are used only to fix the crash. Turning the setting off stops reports immediately. To have reports deleted sooner, email us at the address below. Sentry's handling is covered by its privacy policy.
Weather (optional)
When you tap Add today's weather on an entry, Sabi Daily reads your device's approximate location, shortens it to two decimal places (roughly one kilometre), and sends only those coordinates to the MET Norway weather API, run by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, to get the current conditions. Nothing from your journal is sent, and the request carries no identifier for you or your device. The app tells you this before the first lookup, and nothing is sent unless you ask for the weather. MET Norway's handling of the request is covered by its own terms. We never receive your location. Weather data is provided by MET Norway under the CC BY 4.0 license.
What's stored, and where
Everything you enter, including journal text, entry dates, photos, video and voice memos you attach, and any weather you add, is stored in a local database and local files on your device only. Photos you attach are copied into the app's private storage so they stay with your entries even if you later delete them from your photo library. None of this leaves your device unless you choose to export a backup file.
Backups (optional)
Weekly backup. If you turn on Weekly backup in Settings, once a week Sabi Daily builds a backup file of your journal (entries, photos, clips and tags) and saves it to storage that belongs to you: on iPhone, a Sabi Daily folder in your iCloud Drive; on Android, a folder you choose, such as one in Google Drive or Dropbox. The four newest backups are kept and older ones are deleted. The file goes from your device to your own account with that provider. It does not pass through us, and we cannot access it. Apple's, Google's or the folder provider's own terms apply to what they store.
Password protection. Weekly backups are encrypted with AES-256 using a password you choose. The password is stored only in your device's secure keychain, never in a backup and never with us. Without it, a backup cannot be opened by anyone, including us, and if it is forgotten it cannot be recovered. Backups you export by hand are protected with the same password once you have set one.
Export and restore. You can also export a backup at any time and choose where to save it with your device's share sheet. To restore, for example on a new phone, you pick a backup file and enter its password, and Sabi Daily reads it on your device.
Notifications
If you turn on a daily reminder, Sabi Daily schedules it locally using your device's own notification system. No push service or remote server is involved.

Each permission is requested only when you first use the related feature, and the app works without any of them.
Children's privacy
Sabi Daily does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Crash reports, if turned on, contain no personal information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, for example if a future version adds an optional feature that transmits data somewhere, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
